Painterly editorial movement study related to the mobility pattern
Movement study for atmosphere. Use the written setup and cues below for technique.

Set up and move

  1. Place both hands on a wall or stable support and step one foot back.
  2. Keep the back heel down and the toes facing forward.
  3. Shift forward until you feel a mild stretch, then switch sides.

Three useful cues

  • Heel heavy
  • Toes forward
  • Mild stretch only

Breathing: Keep breathing continuously. Exhale through the main effort of strength movements; for mobility, use slow, easy breaths and never force the range.

Common misses

  • Turning the back foot out
  • Bouncing

Make it easier

Reduce the demand.

Use a shorter stance.

Make it harder

Add one challenge.

Hold a little longer without increasing discomfort.

When to choose something else

A variation is not a test of toughness.

Skip this movement if it causes sharp pain, dizziness, or symptoms that feel unusual for you. Movement pages provide general technique education and do not determine whether an exercise is appropriate for an injury or health condition.
