Transparent by design

Why this workout looks like this.

Workouts.how uses a rules-based general-fitness system. Your answers change the movement patterns, dose, impact, equipment requirements, alternatives, and progression. It does not claim to diagnose, coach through an injury, or know more about your body than you do.

Builder logic

Every answer has a visible job.

01

Time

Changes the number of movements, rounds, and sets. It does not merely shorten the same workout title.

02

Goal

Changes movement-pattern emphasis, repetition ranges, rest, and the recommended next session.

03

Energy

Adjusts total volume and effort target. Low energy does not trigger punishment or a warning streak.

04

Equipment

Removes movements that require unavailable gear and favors honest body-weight or household alternatives.

05

Impact + access

Filters jumping, floor transitions, wrist-loaded work, overhead work, and unsupported balance based on the choices provided.

06

Experience

Changes movement complexity, total sets, repetitions, and the amount of progression suggested.

Programming principles

Useful beats impressive.

  • Leave room. Most generated strength sets stop with a few comfortable repetitions still available.
  • Progress one thing. Add repetitions, then a small amount of resistance, then sets or time.
  • Earn complexity. Advanced methods and training to failure are not treated as default requirements.
  • Keep recovery in the plan. A workout is useful only when the next days still work.
  • Any movement can count. The weekly public-health target is context, not a moral score.

Effort without a wearable

Use breath, conversation, and perception.

RPE 2–3Easy

Comfortable breathing. Full conversation.

RPE 3–4Moderate

You can talk, but singing would be difficult.

RPE 5–7Challenging

Shorter phrases. Effort is clear but still controlled.

RPE means rating of perceived exertion on a 0–10 scale. Individual perception varies. New or unusual symptoms override any target number.

The boundary matters

General fitness, not individualized care.

Workouts.how deliberately does not generate youth, prenatal, postpartum, post-surgical, cardiac-rehabilitation, injury-rehabilitation, or condition-specific programs.
