Painterly editorial movement study related to the push pattern
Movement study for atmosphere. Use the written setup and cues below for technique.

Set up and move

  1. Place your hands on a sturdy elevated surface.
  2. Step back into a straight line from head to heels.
  3. Lower the chest toward the surface and press back up.

Three useful cues

  • Brace gently
  • Chest leads
  • Full-body plank

Breathing: Keep breathing continuously. Exhale through the main effort of strength movements; for mobility, use slow, easy breaths and never force the range.

Common misses

  • Using an unstable surface
  • Shrugging toward the ears

Make it easier

Reduce the demand.

Use a higher surface, such as a wall.

Make it harder

Add one challenge.

Use a lower surface or slow the lowering phase.

When to choose something else

A variation is not a test of toughness.

Skip this movement if it causes sharp pain, dizziness, or symptoms that feel unusual for you. Movement pages provide general technique education and do not determine whether an exercise is appropriate for an injury or health condition.
