Set up and move
- Step one foot to the side as both arms sweep outward or overhead.
- Bring the foot back in and lower the arms.
- Alternate sides at a sustainable pace.
Three useful cues
- Step, do not jump
- Soft knees
- Choose your arm range
Breathing: Keep breathing continuously. Exhale through the main effort of strength movements; for mobility, use slow, easy breaths and never force the range.
Common misses
- Turning it into a jump
- Forcing arms overhead
Make it easier
Reduce the demand.
Keep the arms below shoulder height.
Make it harder
Add one challenge.
Increase the pace while keeping steps quiet.
When to choose something else
A variation is not a test of toughness.
Skip this movement if it causes sharp pain, dizziness, or symptoms that feel unusual for you. Movement pages provide general technique education and do not determine whether an exercise is appropriate for an injury or health condition.
