Painterly editorial movement study related to the warmup pattern
Movement study for atmosphere. Use the written setup and cues below for technique.

Set up and move

  1. Stand tall near a wall or chair if you want support.
  2. March comfortably while reaching one arm overhead at a time.
  3. Keep the pace easy enough to breathe smoothly.

Three useful cues

  • Tall posture
  • Quiet steps
  • Easy breathing

Breathing: Keep breathing continuously. Exhale through the main effort of strength movements; for mobility, use slow, easy breaths and never force the range.

Common misses

  • Rushing the first minute
  • Holding the breath

Make it easier

Reduce the demand.

Keep both reaches below shoulder height or march while seated.

Make it harder

Add one challenge.

Increase the arm swing and march slightly faster.

When to choose something else

A variation is not a test of toughness.

Skip this movement if it causes sharp pain, dizziness, or symptoms that feel unusual for you. Movement pages provide general technique education and do not determine whether an exercise is appropriate for an injury or health condition.
