Set up and move
- Stand beside a stable support with one hand resting lightly on it.
- Lift one knee toward hip height without leaning backward.
- Lower slowly and alternate sides.
Three useful cues
- Stand tall
- Slow lower
- Use only the support you need
Breathing: Keep breathing continuously. Exhale through the main effort of strength movements; for mobility, use slow, easy breaths and never force the range.
Common misses
- Pulling on the support
- Leaning back to lift higher
Make it easier
Reduce the demand.
Lift the foot only a few inches.
Make it harder
Add one challenge.
Pause at the top or reduce hand support.
When to choose something else
A variation is not a test of toughness.
Skip this movement if it causes sharp pain, dizziness, or symptoms that feel unusual for you. Movement pages provide general technique education and do not determine whether an exercise is appropriate for an injury or health condition.
