Set up and move
- Place both hands on a sturdy elevated surface and step into a long body line.
- Drive one knee forward, return it, and switch sides.
- Keep the surface steady and choose a pace you can control.
Three useful cues
- Stable surface
- Hips stay level
- Fast is optional
Breathing: Keep breathing continuously. Exhale through the main effort of strength movements; for mobility, use slow, easy breaths and never force the range.
Common misses
- Using an unstable chair
- Bouncing through the shoulders
Make it easier
Reduce the demand.
Slow to a deliberate alternating knee drive.
Make it harder
Add one challenge.
Increase pace or use a lower stable surface.
When to choose something else
A variation is not a test of toughness.
Skip this movement if it causes sharp pain, dizziness, or symptoms that feel unusual for you. Movement pages provide general technique education and do not determine whether an exercise is appropriate for an injury or health condition.
